First aid
training for adventure in the outdoors
Wilderness first aid training - 2 days
This course will be delivered by a full MIC and Level
4 kayak & canoe coach, 5* Sea
This is a wilderness emergency
care training course and is open to
all who have an interest in developing first aid skills for the outdoor
environment. It will
also provide the skills and qualification for HSE Emergency First Aid
at Work (EFAW).
The course will be of particular interest to
outdoor leaders and instructors who are required to update their first
aid certificate. The qualification is recognised by National
Governing Bodies for ML, WGL, MIC, MIA, SPA, IML; BMG, SCA, BCU, BASI,
etc.
All training
is carried out in realistic and appropriate surroundings whatever the
weather.
Course
Content:

Understand
the role of the first aider, equipment, recording
incidents and actions

Understand
the importance of basic hygiene

Act
safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

Provide
first aid to an unconscious casualty

Provide
first aid for seizures
-
Administer
cardiopulmonary resuscitation
-
Provide
first aid for wounded or bleeding casualties and those in shock

Provide
first aid for choking incidents

Provide
first aid for minor injuries

Heart
conditions

Qualification
A Wilderness First Aid
Certificate and HSE EFAW certificate, valid for 3 years, will be awarded to persons demonstrating
proficiency in the essential core skills.
